3 best ways to treat osteoarthritis with the help of physiotherapy

By lumb@admin

Physiotherapy is the physical form of treatment. It requires no medicine and no surgery. Hence people prefer physiotherapy over any other mode of treatment for pain relief in the most cases of musculoskeletal pain and neurological pain. Usually it takes less time for the patient to recover from their ailment than by treatment  of any other method.

Here are certain ways in which physiotherapy can help the patient recover from osteoarthritis.

  1. I.F.T.- IFT is called interferential therapy which uses two medium frequency currents to produce a low frequency current at the point of the intersection when the chords are placed diagonally to each other. Hence the low frequency current penetrates deeply in the joint and improves the blood flow in that area leading to proper healing with the presence of natural healing substances in the bloodstream.
  2. Nutrition- cartilage of the knee is made of fibrous tissue. Glucosamine chondroitin is the chief chemical that promotes healing and production of new cartilaginous fibres. Pineapple is the natural source of glucosamine. Hence consumption of pineapple on a regular basis promotes the health of cartilages in our body.
  3. Strengthening- Knee joint is surrounded by quadriceps, hamstring and origin of calf muscles. If these muscles are strong then the knee joint is quite stable and pain-free. But if any of these muscle groups are not strong then the knee joint becomes painful. Targeted strengthening of different muscle groups can help in reduction of knee joint pain considerably.
  4. Congrats. Mission accomplished.
